Teresa's CV and Resume

My CV

What I've been up to

Web Writer/Communications Specialist — Sovrn State, sovrnstate.com

April 2011 – Present

Sovrn State is a New York start up that is reinventing the way independent creatives get hired for projects.

For this company, I organized the Website’s architecture for a redesign to be launched this summer. I also wrote site’s content and cultivated the voice.

After the re-launch, I will write artist bios, e-newsletters and company marketing materials.

Blogger/Social Media Copywriter — The Wild Bird Fund | wildbirdfund.com

February 2011 – Present

The Wild Bird Fund provides veterinary care to sick and injured wild birds and small animals Manhattan’s Upper West Side.

When I started writing for them in February, their blog had received only 212 hits the previous month. As of June, the blog has received more than 3,000 hits, surpassing the total number of visits in 2010. Since February, daily blog visits have increased 360 percent.

I also revitalized the Twitter account, and increased followers 58 percent.

In addition to the blog and social media, I write their newsletters, press releases and assist in marketing promotions.

Magazine Editor/Web Editor — I Do for Brides magazine | idoforbrides.com

August 2010 – February 2011

I Do for Brides and IDoForBrides.com is a regional bridal magazine and Website for brides to be in the Southeast.

As the magazine editor of I Do, I created the editorial calendar, wrote marketing materials, interviewed wedding industry professionals and wrote magazine copy.

As the Web Editor, my goal was to improve I Do's online presence. I reorganized the site’s structure to be more user friendly, wrote blog posts, and established the magazine’s identity on Facebook and Twitter. I often used Twitter to connect with wedding industry professionals such as photographers and stationary designers. I also optimized Website copy to increase the site’s chances of appearing in organic (non-paid) searches.

SEO Copywriter/Copy Editor — AT&T Advertising & Publishing

December 2007 – April 2009

In addition to phone service, AT&T provides customers with advertising opportunities beyond YellowPages.

AT&T offered advertisers a product called YPConnect: Landing pages and search engine ads for customers’ Websites. As an SEO Copywriter, I tested and compiled keywords for search engine campaigns, wrote search engine ads, and wrote keyword-rich landing pages.

I also copy edited campaigns of 20+ writers, and optimized existing accounts for better performance. Since many of the writers did not have copywriting backgrounds, I created and implemented a style guide to make our team stronger. The guide is now part of the training manual.

Magazine Editor — H Magazine

August 2007 – November 2007

H Magazine: For and About Henry County was created as a community magazine for Henry County, which is located 30 minutes south of Atlanta.

This was a short-term project to assist in launching a new community magazine. As the magazine’s editor, I created the voice and direction of the magazine, established the editorial calendar, and wrote all of the articles. I also assigned stories to and directed the photographer on photo shoots.

Associate Magazine Editor – Where Atlanta, Travel Georgia, Where GuestBook Atlanta

February 2002 – April 2007

Where Atlanta is part of the Where City Traveler network, which produces travel publications for visitors, including Where GuestBook. Both publications are available in hotels.

In addition to assisting the magazine’s editor with editing and proofreading the magazines, I wrote about Atlanta shopping, style and fashion; the city’s nightlife and the art scene. I also interviewed local celebrities including Neil Boortz, Jermaine Dupri and Ron White; and Atlanta Braves John Smoltz and Chipper Jones.

For Travel Georgia, I complied a statewide calendar of events, managed the listings section, and wrote features and sidebars (often traveling to different parts of the state for the stories).

I wrote about art and fashion for Where GuestBook Atlanta, including a feature-length article the designer T-shirt trend.

Since moving to NYC two years ago, I have been developing my HTML/CSS/Javascript skills (check out nonsequitr!), deepening my knowledge of social media marketing and promotion (Wild Bird Fund), and doing client work for local startups.
